Learn more about Andre

Andre Gaudin, Jr. has spent more than fifteen years fighting for justice in New Orleans. As the Chief of the Screening Division at the District Attorney’s Office, he has lead the team that makes the first call on every felony arrest in Orleans Parish—tens of thousands of cases that shape how our city confronts violent crime.

Throughout his career, Andre has earned a reputation as a prosecutor who is tough on violent crime but smart on justice.

A graduate of De La Salle High School and Tulane University, Andre is a lifelong New Orleanian who’s raising his five daughters here with his wife. His family’s life in this city gives him real skin in the game—not just serving New Orleans, but deeply invested in its future.

Andre believes that true public safety comes from both firm accountability and meaningful second chances. As judge, he will champion creative sentencing, restorative-justice practices, and community-based engagement that repair harm and reduce recidivism—while ensuring that violent offenders face real consequences.

Known for his work ethic and meticulous approach, Andre has spent his career improving how justice is delivered—faster, fairer, and with greater transparency. He’s seen how “business as usual” at Tulane and Broad—with bloated dockets and delayed cases—hurts victims and defendants alike.

Now, he’s ready to serve as a judge who won’t let his decisions be swayed by mood or personal feelings, but by the fair and impartial administration of our laws.

A Focus on

Justice.

An Eye for

Fairness.

An Innovative and Accountable Approach to Justice

As a judge, my focus will be on fairness, innovation, and efficiency in the courtroom. Section J has long carried one of the heaviest dockets in Criminal District Court, and restoring timely, transparent justice is my top priority.

Impartial Justice for All

Every litigant deserves to be heard and treated with dignity, regardless of race, class, or background. I will apply the law firmly and impartially, ensuring that victims’ voices are respected and defendants’ rights are protected. My decisions will be guided by the law, evidence, and equity—never by politics, mood, or favoritism.

A Modern Courtroom

  • Data & Transparency: Use data to track docket progress and publish clear, accessible information about case timelines.

  • Technology & Access: Expand use of remote hearings and modern scheduling tools to reduce unnecessary court appearances and disruptions for working families.

  • Courtroom Management: Employ proven practices to minimize delay, such as firm trial settings and routine status checks that keep cases moving.

The future of our courts depends on leadership that is innovative, accountable, and experienced. I will bring disciplined solutions to ensure justice in Orleans Parish is not just a promise—but a practice.

"Judicial elections matter. If you’re tired of business as usual at Tulane and Broad, and ready for a court that’s fair, firm, and focused on justice — I’d be honored to have your vote."
